Lydon Veterinary Centre

Dedicated to the animal community

Past and Present

The  practice began in 1987 when Rory Lydon MVB, MRCVS opened a small veterinary surgery located on Rough Road. Ten years later in 1997, we moved to our current premises situated on Kingstanding Road. Here a complete refurbishment and extension took place, to provide pet owners and the animal community with excellent facilities and first-class veterinary care, which continues to this day. In May 2017, Lydon Vets joined Pro-Vets, Halesowen and then in August 2017, Pro-Vets joined Independent Vetcare.

We have direct control over our choice of the most suitable treatments and medications that we feel will fully benefit the health and well-being of your much-loved pets. Our hands are not tied by contracts with particular veterinary medicine suppliers, as is the case with many veterinary chains, franchises or corporate establishments.

Our aim is to remain at the forefront of pet healthcare in North Birmingham. Staff here at Lydon Vets, undertake continual professional development to ensure that our patients receive the most current treatments available. Proprietor and Veterinary Surgeon Rory Lydon, has recently completed several courses in Feline and Canine Medicine.

Part of the Community

Each year we welcome work experience students from local schools to be part of our daily practice life. We are extremely pleased that three such students, have embarked on their studies to become fully qualified Veterinary Surgeons of the future.

High Standards and Assurance

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons regulate the veterinary profession in the UK. They provide a form of quality assurance for animals and their owners that veterinary services are received from qualified vets in a professional manner. For a vet to practice in the UK, they must also be registered members of the RCVS. To become an RCVS Accredited Practice, requires veterinary practices to meet the strict and high standards set by the RCVS in such areas as clinical care, hygiene, equipment and staff training.

Lydon Veterinary Centre is proud to be an RCVS Accredited Practice. As part of this accreditation, we volunteer to be inspected at least every four years, and are open to spot checks between these inspections. You can feel confident that we maintain high clinical standards, while providing a caring, comprehensive and professional service for you and your pets. We are also a RCVS approved training practice for veterinary nurses.
